The Society is UK based and was formed in 1921 to encourage contact between those less-able bodied due to war injuries. The scope was broadened to include the ‘lone’ collector (those who for various reasons are not able to join a local society). Also included in the membership are senior citizens and the less-abled.
The magazine is the “Philatelic Circulator” roughly A5 size, but a little broader and issued every six weeks. The pages are perforated loose-leaf in a binder, which is circulated according to an address list. Members are encouraged to submit articles either typed or manuscript, but this is optional. Articles on stamps, covers, postmarks and press cuttings of interest are included. Blank pages are provided for members’ comments. The comments are circulated later for all to read.
All issues of the ‘Circulator’ have a Wants and Offers section for the benefit of members who wish to buy, sell or exchange.
Articles which have been authored were on Frama Labels, Papua New Guinea, Postal Orders, Pigeongrammes. Thematics on Art,
Medicinal Plants and on Bees have also appeared.
The main rules of the Society are concerned with the safe packing of the “Circulator”. Members are asked to pass on the magazine within three days, and to obtain a “Proof of Posting” in case of loss in the post. The cost of posting the magazine is usually less than £1 every few weeks. After circulation is completed each magazine is taken apart and the articles returned to the authors. Unfortunately, due to the time taken for the magazines to circulate, membership has to be confined to UK addresses.

The Society’s subscription is £1, which just about keeps the Society solvent. A little extra as a donation is always appreciated.
There is an active exchange section where booklets and loose stamps are circulated between members.
The Society is affiliated to the Raflet Stamp Club and members can receive their packets and auction lists if desired, at no further expense.
The Society receives copies of the ‘Raflet’ magazine, ‘Thermescene’ (from the British Thematic Society), the ‘ABPS News’ and sometimes the ‘Stamp Lover’ (from the National Philatelic Society). All of which members can be added to the circulation, bearing in mind there will be added the cost of passing these on.
Also, the Society is an honorary member of the ABPS (Association of British Philatelic Societies)
Correspondence between members is encouraged and has led to many ‘pen pal’ friendships.
It would be appreciated if members could notify a contact e-mail address to the society, to assist when there are problems with the circulation.
